Query every drawing and record before your next HAZOP

Corvic reads the P&IDs, vendor datasheets, work orders, inspection reports and tap cards your teams keep retyping. It answers in the template each team already loads. Every value links to the sheet, page or record it came from.

Reading

Every engineering team retypes records it can't trace

The documents change from team to team. The pattern holds. Records sit in scans and free text, someone copies them by hand into the next system, and nobody can say where a value came from.

01

The data is trapped in scans and free text

P&IDs are scanned images. Vendor datasheets are PDFs. Work orders read like "hyd pump lkg, replcd seal." NIST researchers found work orders "largely sit untouched" because the text is too messy to analyze (2021).

02

Every system wants it retyped

The CMMS load sheet, the owner's handover register, the GIS and the 8D form each want the same values in their own layout. Autodesk and FMI tied 14% of construction rework worldwide in 2020 to bad data.

03

Sign-off needs a source nobody kept

A HAZOP, a handover acceptance, an 8D and a state inventory filing all ask where a value came from. In a 2010 study of 78 design engineers, 14% of working time went to searching for information (Robinson, JASIST).

Each card names the documents that team handles and the jobs Corvic does with them. Process plants have a full page. The other cards open the agent, playbook or case study closest to that work.

Process safety, document control, asset information and reliability engineers

Decades of P&IDs exist only as scanned sheets. PHA revalidation is due every 5 years under OSHA 1910.119, and the CMMS register no longer matches the drawings.

  • Equipment list, instrument index and line list from scanned sheets, each row cited to sheet and zone
  • Lines traced across off-page connectors for HAZOP nodes and MOC reviews
  • Drawing versus register check that ends in a change file

EPC and design firms

Project engineers, document controllers and handover leads

The owner's handover spec wants tag-linked data. Vendor datasheets and manuals arrive late, as PDFs, in every template, and someone retypes them before close-out.

  • Fill the owner's attribute template from vendor datasheets, with the page for each value
  • Link each document to its equipment tag and list what the package is missing
  • Check datasheet values against the instrument index and line list
See the client-format P&ID benchmark

Reliability and maintenance

Reliability engineers, maintenance planners and RCA leads

Years of work orders sit in SAP PM or Maximo as free text. Failure codes are blank or "other", so repeat failures hide in the notes.

  • Read work order notes and assign failure mode, cause and action
  • Line up historian trends, work orders and inspection records into one RCA timeline
  • Flag sensor deviations that came before past failures
See the Root Cause Intelligence agent

Manufacturing quality

Quality, process and supplier quality engineers

An NCR or customer complaint means pulling MES logs, SPC charts, CMM results and supplier certs from separate systems. The 8D waits on the data.

  • Join machine logs, inspection results and lot genealogy for one defect
  • Rank likely causal factors with the records behind each one
  • Draft the 8D root cause section with a citation on every claim

Water utilities

Asset managers, GIS analysts and compliance leads

Service line material sits on tap cards, permits and old distribution maps. EPA notes tap cards are often handwritten. The LCRI baseline inventory is due November 1, 2027.

  • Read scanned tap cards and permits into a service line table with address, material and install date
  • List every line still marked unknown, with the record that left it unknown
  • Send unclear entries to review with the card image beside them

R&D and product engineering

Design engineers, test engineers and R&D scientists

Test reports, papers and prior art pile up as PDFs. Comparing results across them means rebuilding the same table by hand before every design review.

  • Pull tables and figures from test reports and papers into one comparison matrix
  • Run a prior-art search and map claims feature by feature against a disclosure
  • Cite the report, table or patent number behind every statement

One question from each team, answered with its sources

Pick a team. Corvic reads that team's records and answers in the layout they use, with a source number on every row. Companies and values are fictional.

The line leaves sheet 201 through connector TO 202 and ends at stripper T-202, tray 12. The line list still carries the old pipe class.

Your drawings and maps stay under your control

Plant drawings and water system maps show how critical infrastructure works. FERC treats some P&IDs as critical energy infrastructure information. This is how Corvic handles them.

SOC 2 Type II

Corvic is SOC 2 Type II. Files are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit. Sign in with your SSO.

Private VPC deployment

Run Corvic inside your own cloud account, with tenant isolation and encryption keys your team manages.

Permissions follow the source

Access is scoped per person and per source. A contractor who can't open a unit's folder can't query it.

You choose the model

Use OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, open-source models or your own endpoint. Zero-data-retention options apply where the provider offers them.

Removal on demand

GDPR and CCPA compliant. Delete drawings, records and extracted rows when a project closes.

What engineering teams raise first

Agreed, so every value links to the sheet, page or record it came from. Items the audit pass can't confirm go to a review list, not into the file. On our June 2026 P&ID benchmark Corvic scored 83.5% element accuracy, against 63.8% for Claude Opus 4.8. Plan on engineer review, and we will measure it on your documents.

Ask each vendor for three things. A source sheet and zone on every row, output in your own import template, and a blind score on real drawings. Corvic publishes all three: 91.0% client format compliance and 83.5% accuracy in June 2026. Corvic also reads the work orders, datasheets and inspection records around the drawings.

Keep them. Corvic writes to the template each system already loads, such as a functional location sheet or a service line table. Your team loads the file. Corvic does not ship native SAP PM or Maximo connectors.

Start with the worst of them. Corvic reads scans and photos and lists every value it could not confirm, with the image beside it. Those go to review. You see the hit rate on your own records before anything loads.

Deploy Corvic in a private VPC with tenant isolation and keys you manage. Access follows per-person and per-source permissions, and data can be removed on demand. Tell us your CEII or export control requirements before the pilot.

The team with the nearest deadline. A PHA revalidation, a handover close-out, a turnaround or the 2027 service line inventory each make a good first scope. We onboard you with your own data, and your first answer is 24 hours away.
